Bio

Artistic Afro is a NJ based non-binary fine artist and muralist. Their artistic style is influenced by their love of nature, portraiture, skateboarding culture, street art, and more. Their mission is to collaborate with community based organizations, individuals, and artists to promote creative expression and break down stigmas associated with mental illness, climate change, racism, and other social issues. Through this process, they hope to become a change agent, stimulating conversations that transform public spaces, institutions, and individual lives as well as empower other BIPOC creatives to believe in their potential through community engagement.

Artistic Afro studied Fine Art at the School of Visual Arts, New Jersey City University, and Florence University of the Arts in Florence, Italy. They have exhibited their art nationally and internationally, including at the Whitney Museum, Chinatown Soup Gallery, Deep Space Gallery, and more. They have worked with various organizations including the Jersey City Mural Arts Program, Derek Luke Foundation, Jersey City Art Council, Port Authority of NY/ NJ Path, and NYC Parks & Recreation.
